From the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Department of Highways District 10 (Aug. 27, 2012):

Start of month-long bridge repair project on KY 1571 in Estill County delayed until Tuesday, Sept. 4

JACKSON, KY – The contractor responsible for a bridge repair project KY 1571 in Estill County has delayed the start of the work until Tuesday, Sept. 4. Once underway, the repairs will result in one-lane traffic and delays for motorists using this highway.

The project was originally scheduled to begin on Friday, Aug. 24.

During the project, temporary signals will control traffic at the bridge crossing Millers Creek near KY 52. These temporary signals will be in place for approximately 30 days as work on a bridge deck overlay project proceeds. This will affect traffic between Irvine/Ravenna and Beattyville, as well as travel from Lee and Owsley counties to Richmond.

While the work is ongoing, the route will be restricted to vehicles less than 12 feet wide. Vehicles wider than 12 feet will need to find an alternate route around the project. Overwidth vehicles can use KY 52 across the mountain at Tipton Ridge as a detour route.

Drivers should slow down as they approach this construction zone, watch for stopped traffic and obey the temporary traffic signals. Motorists are asked to “Drive Smart” in this and all other work zones and be aware of workers, traffic control devices and construction equipment when traveling in this and other areas where projects are ongoing.
