District 3 Traffic Impact Report for the week of September 17, 2012

District 3 Traffic Impact Report

 KYTC District 3:  Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, Todd and Warren Counties


Interstate / Parkway Systems

  •  

       I-65 - Reconstruction from four to six lanes in Edmonson and Barren - Louie B. Nunn Parkway to Park City (MP 43-48) – Paving work from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm

       Widening to six lanes continues for this section of I-65. There will be paving operations adjacent to northbound traffic  with barrels only for separation, motorists should use caution. Two lanes of traffic will be open in each direction while this work is performed.    There will be ongoing work on KY 255 under the interstate bridge and around the ramps.  Traffic will have lane shifts and flaggers at different times throughout the week.   This section of I-65 should be completed in approximately two weeks. 

       

      I-65 - Reconstruction from four to six lanes for north and southbound lanes in Barren - Park City to Cave City (MP 48-53)

      Widening to six lanes continues for this section of I-65 with two lanes of traffic open for each direction. Crews will continue working on the median wall and making preparations to switch traffic. Northbound traffic will be split between the permanent barrier wall through the entire project and will remain that way until spring of next year. Completion is expected in the fall of 2013.

Allen County

  •  

      KY 98 –Bays Fork Creek (MP 1.8)

      The project is completed except for final stabilization of slopes and corrective items. 

       

Barren County

        US 68X/Columbia Avenue – Lane closure from East Front Street to Davis Street until September 15

  •  

      This project has been completed with the exception of corrective work.

 

        KY 90 – New Construction: Grade & Drain with Surfacing – Lane closure from 6:30 am until 5:00 pm

  •  

      Crews will be flagging traffic on the new Siloam Church Road, Adam McCreary Road, and Green Valley Drive daily from 6:30 am – 5:00 pm for building embankments and constructing the asphalt base portion of the road bed. Work on the bridge adjacent to Siloam Road has began.  Detour / New Siloam road will be utilized and traffic should use this route. Completion for the entire project is slated for fall of 2013.

      US 31W – Installation of traffic loops, milling and paving – 6:30 am until 4:30 pm

      This project has been completed with the exception of corrective work.

 

  •  

      KY 255 – New Construction – Bridge over CSX railroad in Park City

      This project has been completed. The new alignment is open to traffic and the old at grade crossing has been closed to traffic and converted to a pedestrian crossing. Traffic should utilize new alignment for access across the rail road track. Crews will be installing signs along old alignment to help direct motorists to the new roadway.

         

Butler County   

        US 231 – Concrete joint repair, milling and paving – 7:00 am until 4:00 pm

      Crews will begin milling up a portion of US 231 in Morgantown on Saturday (weather permitting) on South Main Street/US 231 between Bell Street and KY 2161. Crews will be onsite from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm. Motorists will be pushed down to one lane and flaggers will be on site to direct traffic during this time. This work is expected to be completed in two weeks (Sept. 21st).

      US 231 – Bridge inspection – 8:00 am until 2:30 pm

      Beginning Monday, Sept. 10, motorists traveling on US 231 between Aberdeen and Morgantown may experience some slight delays while KYTC crews perform a scheduled inspection on the Aberdeen bridge over the Green River.  A lane closure will be used from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm while crews inspect the underside of the structure with the use of a snooper truck. Flaggers will be onsite to direct traffic while the lane closure is in place. The work is expected to be completed by Wednesday, Sept. 19, weather permitting.

 

Edmonson County

  •  

      KY 70  Resurfacing work for Brownsville Road

      Beginning Monday crews will be on site to begin milling operations in preparation of new surface material for Brownsville Road between the Butler County line and Bear Creek. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic between 6:30 am to 5:00 pm while this work is performed.

  

Logan County

  •  

      KY 178 – Traffic pushed down to one lane between the Todd County line and the Russellville Bypass between 6:00 am and 5:00 pm

      Crews will replace entrance pipes and extend culverts along the eight mile section of roadway. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic while this work is done. The project is tentatively scheduled for completion on September 30.

 

Monroe County

        KY 163 – New Construction: Grade & Drain with Surfacing – One lane of traffic between 6:00 am and 5:00 pm

      Crews will continue work on building and hauling embankment and will have flaggers at the intersections of the new Cyclone Road approach, Apple Grove intersection, and Humes Road intersections. Humes Road will also have flaggers and crews working to build a new approach and traffic should expect delays.  Flaggers will be on site during these operations as well. Completion is expected for summer of 2013.  

 

Warren County

  •  

      KY 2158/Cumberland Trace

      Crews will continue placing sod and seeding from Scottsville Road to just south of Cemetery Road along both sides of the highway. Crews will also be on the project to finish permanent striping at various locations on the project.  No major encroachments on traffic are expected. Completion is expected this fall.

       

I-65/Scottsville Road Interchange

  •  

      Beginning Monday, Sept. 17, KYTC crews will close the entrance on Scottsville Road between Ken Bale Boulevard and I-65 for pavement repairs. This entrance directly serves IHOP, Chuy’s, the Drury Inn and Outback Steakhouse. Anyone wishing to access those businesses adjacent to the closed entrance may do so via Ken Bale Boulevard. Crews will shut down the entrance at 7:00 am on Monday and it will remain closed 24/7 for at least a week while the repairs are made. Inclement weather conditions may push the closure longer than a week.

       

  •  

      Crews will be installing storm sewer pipe on the existing US 231 roadway just south of the interchangeon Monday and Tuesday nights from 9:00 pm until 6:00 am. Lane closures will be in use while this work is performed. Motorists should take precaution for vehicles entering and exiting the construction zoneat various places around the interchange. Completion is expected this fall.

       

      US 31W/Nashville Road  Widening/Reconstruction between the William H. Natcher Parkway and Dillard/McLellan Intersection

      Crews will be paving from just south of the industrial park to north of Elrod Road from 8:00 am until 2:30 pm. Traffic will be pushed down to one lane and flaggers will be on site  to direct traffic. 

       

      Motorists should take precaution for construction vehicles entering and exiting the construction zone.

      Construction activities are creating delays during peak travel times on Nashville Road and Elrod Road. Motorists may wish to take an alternate route or alter their travel times to avoid such delays. Completion is expected in the spring of 2013.

       

Please note this information contains state maintained routes only.  Work schedules quickly and often do change because of weather and other factors.  Other work (including mowing/utility maintenance) may not be included in this report due to the rapid nature in which these activities take place and move from one location to another.
