Transportation Cabinet to Hold Second Public Meeting on Oct. 15 for KY 1531 (Johnson Road) Planning and Environmental Linkage Study in Eastern Louisville
Citizens invited to provide input on potential improvements to enhance connectivity and mobility
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 7, 2026) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) will host the second public meeting on Thursday, Oct. 15, for the KY 1531 (Johnson Road) Planning and Environmental Linkage Study (PEL) on potential transportation improvements from U.S. 60 (Shelbyville Road) to Aiken Road in eastern Jefferson County.
The meeting will be an open-house event with no formal presentation, held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Stopher Elementary School, 14417 Aiken Road, Louisville, KY 40245. Those interested in learning more about the project or providing feedback are encouraged to attend at any time during the event to review exhibit materials, ask questions, and submit comments. Representatives from KYTC and the engineering design consultant team will be available throughout the meeting to answer questions and discuss the project.
The purpose of the PEL study is to identify potential transportation improvement needs along KY 1531 (Johnson Road) from U.S. 60 (Shelbyville Road) to Aiken Road in Jefferson County and to evaluate potential short- and long-term concepts to address identified needs. The study includes an analysis of existing conditions along the corridor to enhance mobility and connectivity along KY 1531 (Johnson Road).
An online survey will be available and will remain open for 30 days following the public meeting on the KYTC District 5 website. The study is expected to be completed in February of 2027, following consideration of public feedback received through the Oct. 15 meeting and survey.
All written comments will become part of the official meeting record. Once compiled, the meeting record and supporting documentation will be made available for review and copying only after an Open Records Request has been received and approved. All Open Records Requests must be submitted to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Office of Legal Services, Transportation Office Building (200 Mero St, Frankfort, KY, 40622), or via kytc.openrecords@ky.gov.
