From Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 1:

New Traffic Pattern Begins Today, Nov. 5 on Interstate 24 Westbound in Lyon County Work Zone
Lane restrictions continue near Exits 45 and 56
PADUCAH, Ky. (Nov. 5, 2026) – Motorists should anticipate a new traffic pattern starting today, Nov. 5 on Interstate 24 westbound in Lyon County, as part of the ongoing work zone near Exit 45 (KY 293).
A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has shifted traffic onto both westbound lanes between mile points 45.1 and 50 following completion of full-depth asphalt resurfacing. Eastbound traffic in this area will continue in one lane until crews remove the temporary barrier wall, which is estimated to be completed around the end of November.
Use caution. A reduced speed limit of 55 mph remains in effect.
This work is part of a larger 10-mile asphalt rehab project extending from mile point 45.1 in Lyon County to mile point 55.4 near Exit 56 (KY 139) in Caldwell County.
Over the next few weeks, work zone lane restrictions will continue near Exit 45 as the median crossover is removed and also near Exit 56 where crossover construction for the second half of the project, between mile points 50 and 55.4, has begun.
Construction on Phase 2, when traffic will begin utilizing the new crossover, is expected to begin in spring 2027.
The entire project is expected to be completed by Nov. 15, 2027.
