Local Items Around Bowling Green: Hart County Paving, Fair Street, Riverfront Park, Road Dedication
Hart County hired Scotty's Contracting to resurface several county roads in late August and early September, with crews using the full road width. Bowling Green closed Fair Street between 10th and 11th avenues for about two weeks for a stormwater pipe tie-in. Phase one of Bowling Green's Riverfront Park on the Barren River, which includes a new public boat ramp and pedestrian plaza ($4.3 million), was aiming for completion around Labor Day. Edmonson County dedicated Old Kyrock Road and Kyrock Road to two local servicemen killed in the line of duty: Wand B. Doyle (USS Arizona, 1941) and Col. Ernest E. Lane Jr. (Vietnam, 1966).
