From Kentucky Transportation Cabint Department of Highways District 10 (Aug. 9, 2012): Transportation Cabinet awards six highway improvement contracts for five District 10 counties JACKSON, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has awarded six contracts totaling more than $3.5 million for highway projects in five counties within the Department of Highways District 10. Contracts awarded as part of the July 2012 letting are: · A $141,322.22 contract to repair the bridge carrying KY 1419 over the Red River in Wolfe County. The project is to be completed within 30 calendar days once it begins, but by no later than Nov. 15. · A $1,922,559.30 contract to resurface 17.02 miles of KY 1098 in Breathitt County. The project is to be completed by Nov. 15. · A $375,790.57 to resurface portions of KY 851, KY 1457 and KY 3325 in Estill County. The project is to be completed by Nov. 30. · A $313,765.90 contract to resurface portions of KY 613 and KY 3352 in Powell County. The project is to be completed by Nov. 30. · A $433,477.50 contract to resurface portions of KY 713, KY 1240 and KY 2071 in Menifee County. The project is to be completed by Nov. 30. · A $364,649.23 contract to resurface portions of KY 541, KY 1098 and KY 3237 in Breathitt County. The project is to be completed by Nov. 30.
The Department of Highways District 10 consists of 10 counties – Breathitt, Estill, Lee, Magoffin, Menifee, Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Powell and Wolfe – in east-central and southeastern Kentucky. The district office is located in Jackson. Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to drive with caution in work zones and be aware of workers, traffic control devices and construction equipment when traveling in areas where projects are ongoing. Significant traffic impacts resulting from construction and maintenance projects are posted on District 10’s website ( http://transportation.ky.gov/District-10), the district’s Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/KYTCDistrict10) and also on the district’s Twitter feed (http://www.twitter.com/KYTCDistrict10). Drivers can check these sites prior to traveling to determine if there will be traffic delays for which they should be prepared.
